<p>Eucalyptus dissolving pulp (EDP) was prepared using pre-hydrolysis kraft process combined with totally chlorine-free (TCF) bleaching. The chemical composition, basic properties of EDP such as viscosity, alkali solubility, and reactivity on viscose were characterized, and the reactivity could not meet the requirements of viscose production. The EDP fibers were screened into two fractions: greater than 200 mesh (R200) and less than 200 mesh (P200). The pore size and distribution of fibers were measured by nitrogen gas adsorption analysis, and the result showed that the specific surface area and pore volume of the fraction P200 were higher than those of R200. However, the filterability of viscose derived from P200 was far lower than that from R200. The EDP fibers and its P200 fraction were treated with pectinase, and the concentrations of uronic acid were determined in both hydrolysates. It was indicated that P200 contains more pectin substances. The reactivity on viscose of both EDP and P200 after the pectin removal was significantly improved.</p>
