A new arctangent potential for spherical galaxies and its distribution functions

We present a new arctangent potential with two parameters for spherical galaxies. The technique of the construction of our models is distinct from that given by Jiang and Zhuo. In a limiting model of finite total mass, its mass density is a special example in a family of the Hernquist models. For models with infinite total mass, we display some profiles of their intrinsic properties, such as velocity dispersions and surface densities, and show their isotropic and anisotropic distribution functions which can be expressed as some definite integrals suitable for numerical calculation. Three different anisotropic distribution functions discussed here are tangentially biased.
