摘要

Divorce is a traumatic event that can severely impact a child’s mental health, increasing risks for depression, anxiety, and developmental regression. While the Ministry of Justice established Judicial Interview Rooms (JIRs) in Türkiye to minimize retraumatization during testimony, they primarily serve an evidence-gathering function rather than a therapeutic one. This paper proposes a specialized “Play Therapy Room” model within judicial units to address this gap. Grounded in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) principles, this model suggests equipping judicial spaces with therapeutic materials and employing trained professionals to facilitate emotional processing. By integrating play therapy -the child’s natural medium of expression-into the legal system, this model aims to support the child’s adjustment and uphold the “best interests of the child” principle during the divorce process.
