Optimal Pursuit Strategy Using Direction Toward the Target

A pursuit strategy is developed that solely uses the direction toward the target and whose properties are similar to those of the parallel approach strategy. A theorem on the existence, uniqueness, and continuity of the solution to the system of differential equations describing the motion of the evader and pursuer is proved, as well as a theorem on the optimality of the constructed pursuit strategy. Examples of pursuit problems are considered, and numerical experiments confirming the effectiveness of the constructed strategy are presented.
