摘要

The authors have developed a mathematical model to study the impact of collective immunity on the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. The model considers various immune system elements and allows for investigating mechanisms that lead to metastable chaos during the immune response. They also have explored the relationship between the state of the cell’s energy system and the immune response dynamics. The authors considered the problem of optimal control of the immune response to minimize the risk of pathological disorders related to excessive inflammation caused by cytokine storm syndrome in the body during COVID-19. They have shown how changes in different parts of the immune system affect the duration of the disease and determined the dependence of the total number of virus-infected cells on changes in the balance of energy synthesis and expenditure in cells.
