摘要

Echocardiographic images may occasionally display false, mislocated, or distorted structures due to artifacts arising from tissue interactions, ultrasound beam characteristics, or image reconstruction algorithms. We report the case of a man with a history of mitral valve repair and tricuspid annuloplasty in whom a suspected right atrial mass was observed. A CT scan was performed to exclude the presence of a mass; however, careful review of the echocardiographic images demonstrated that the finding represented a mirror artifact, with the annuloplasty ring acting as a strong reflector.
