摘要

Results are given for a study of the effect of an oxygen-containing compound, namely, 1,3-di-tert-butyl glycerin ether, synthesized by the alkylation of glycerol using epichlorohydrin, on the physicochemical and functional properties of automobile gasolines. The major gasoline quality indices were compared for a model gasoline mixture, gasoline mixtures with various volumetric contents of this additive as well as fuel mixtures with ethanol and this additive. The efficiency and applicability of these compounds as octane-enhancing additives were evaluated. The 1,3-di-tert-butyl ether of glycerin was found to be the most efficient compound for this purpose. Due to its hygroscopicity, this compound was found to be capable of enhancing the stability of gasoline-ethanol mixtures at low temperature.
