<p>Oncology clinical trials are not readily available to rural residents in the United States despite rural disparities in preventable cancer incidence, prevalence, and mortality. We comment on the underrepresentation of rural populations in oncology clinical trials, identify key barriers to rural participation, and highlight ways to overcome these barriers, including successful national and international models of inclusive oncology trial design.</p>
