<p>We report here studies on the use of hydrogen and methane concentrations in exhaled air to predict the concentration of bacteria producing these gases in the large intestine of laboratory rats. Conventional machine learning models were shown to be able to determine exhaled gas concentrations and the concentrations of bacteria producing them in the intestine.</p>
