Studies of the energy characteristics of implantable spinal cord stimulators

A numerical model was developed for calculating the energy characteristics of a spinal cord stimulator. The power consumed by the spinal cord stimulator, calculated using the mathematical model developed here, was compared with empirical data on the energy consumption of Medtronic Prime series spinal cord stimulators. The relationship between the expected service life of the spinal cord stimulator and stimulation signal parameters was calculated in terms of stimulation frequency, amplitude, and stimulation pulse duration.
