摘要

Implantable clinical neuroelectronic devices are limited by the lack of reliable, safe, and minimally invasive methods for wireless modulation of neural tissue. The studies reported here addressed this issue by using organic semiconductor structures on a polyimide cuff to provide acute stimulation of peripheral nerves by converting tissue-penetrating deep red light into electrical signals. The results confirm that stimulating semiconductor devices represent a high-performance and biocompatible approach to wireless neuromodulation with potential applications in various areas of clinical bioelectronics.
