摘要

Private archives may contain material with different content and physical characteristics. One of these materials, hotel stationery, largely contains details of the archive owner’s past and/or daily life and information about his or her past. In this respect, hotel stationery, a retrospective material, is one of the “different” types found in private archives. Since the social and working life of the individual is also influential in the formation of private archives, these materials in archives vary accordingly. Travels with one’s relatives can be an important source of memory and material for expanding one’s private archive. The place, time and activities of the accommodation are recorded in diaries, notes, drafts, manuscripts and letters and often shared with family and/or friends. This type of ephemera can provide the link between accommodation, communication and memory as writing material that records the moment. Simple writing and communication materials carry today’s location information. Usually designed as note papers and envelopes, hotel stationery can also be used as promotional material. The study will analyze examples of this type of ephemera, which can be found in special archives and carry much more meaning than an ordinary piece of paper, discussing their contribution to the daily lives of special archive owners, archivists' attitudes toward this material and its various uses.
