<p><i>Pangasius hypophthalmus</i> (pangas) is a commonly consumed low-cost fish species in Bangladesh and is largely affected by postharvest loss (PHL). In this study, quantitative PHL was estimated, and the factors affecting the PHL of pangas were determined via the Questionnaire Loss Assessment Method (QLAM). The data were collected from the Barishal and Patuakhali districts of Bangladesh from January to March 2025 from 340 respondents (100 farmers and 240 traders). The estimated PHL of pangas was 2.58&#xa0;kg/ton, whereas the physical, market and monetary losses were 0.06&#xa0;kg/ton, 2.52&#xa0;kg/ton and 3.10 USD/ton, respectively. The highest (0.11&#xa0;kg/ton) physical loss was found among farmers, and the lowest (0.00&#xa0;kg/ton) was among arathders. However, the quantitative PHL was the highest (0.84&#xa0;kg/ton) at the selling stage and the lowest (0.00&#xa0;kg/ton) in the harvesting stage. The estimated PHL was highest in the summer season and lowest in the winter season. The highest and lowest losses of fish were 3.88 and 2.58&#xa0;kg/ton, respectively, in the channel of Farmer &gt; Arathder &gt; Wholesaler &gt; Retailer and Farmer &gt; Retailer. The results revealed that a lack of transportation facilities, insufficient ice and storage facilities, delayed marketing, religious aspects, lengthy bidding times, and insufficient market information were significant factors influencing PHL. Policy interventions are recommended to improve cold chain logistics, storage facilities and market infrastructure to reduce PHL. The results of this study can guide policymakers, fish traders, and market managers in improving market practices and reducing postharvest losses.</p>
