Determinants of green entrepreneurial intentions and nascent behaviours in Hong Kong and Taiwan: extending the theory of planned behaviour
摘要
Increasing awareness of sustainable development in schools and among governmental bodies has sharpened the focus of research on green and sustainable entrepreneurship. The present study examined the factors associated with green entrepreneurial intentions and behaviours among individuals in Hong Kong and Taiwan. By analysing data from these distinct yet comparable societies, this study contributes to the literature by providing empirical insights into the factors that drive green entrepreneurship in emerging markets in the Asia–Pacific region. Furthermore, this study extended the theory of planned behaviour by incorporating novel variables and proxies. This study employed a quantitative survey and collected 878 valid responses—420 from individuals in Hong Kong and 458 from individuals in Taiwan. The analysis revealed that environmental knowledge and entrepreneurial creativity were positively associated with green entrepreneurial intentions and behaviours in both cohorts. The findings offer practical guidance for policymakers and stakeholders seeking to promote green entrepreneurship through institutional improvements, supportive policy environments, and initiatives that foster entrepreneurial confidence.
