<p>We prove that almost all points of the Engel group 𝔼<sub><i>α,β</i></sub> are joined with its neutral element by basis horizontal <i>k</i>-broken lines <InlineEquation ID="IEq1"> <EquationSource Format="TEX">\({L}_{k}^{\varepsilon },k\le 4,\)</EquationSource> <EquationSource Format="MATHML"><math> <mrow> <msubsup> <mi>L</mi> <mrow> <mi>k</mi> </mrow> <mi>ε</mi> </msubsup> <mo>,</mo> <mi>k</mi> <mo>≤</mo> <mn>4</mn> <mo>,</mo> </mrow> </math></EquationSource> </InlineEquation> the links of which are segments of integral lines of basis horizontal left-invariant vector fields <i>X, Y</i> of the Lie algebra of the group 𝔼<sub><i>α,β</i></sub>. On Joinability by Horizontal Broken Lines on the Engel Group

摘要

We prove that almost all points of the Engel group 𝔼α,β are joined with its neutral element by basis horizontal k-broken lines \({L}_{k}^{\varepsilon },k\le 4,\) L k ε , k 4 , the links of which are segments of integral lines of basis horizontal left-invariant vector fields X, Y of the Lie algebra of the group 𝔼α,β. Furthermore, there exist elements of the group 𝔼α,β that cannot be joined by basis horizontal k-broken lines \({L}_{k}^{\varepsilon },k\le 4\) L k ε , k 4 .We prove that all points of the Engel group 𝔼α,β are joined with its neutral element by basis horizontal k-broken lines \({L}_{k}^{\varepsilon },k\le 6\) L k ε , k 6 .
