Integration of Non-Timber forest products (NTFPs) in agroforestry systems
摘要
Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) are incredibly important for supporting rural communities, conserving biodiversity, and maintaining ecological balance. Bringing NTFPs into agroforestry systems has become a great sustainable land-use approach that blends economic benefits with environmental care. These agroforestry systems, which include trees, crops, and sometimes livestock, provide an opportunity to grow and manage NTFPs like medicinal plants, fruits, resins, fibers, and honey. To reduce review bias, studies representing different agro-climatic regions, management practices, and socio-economic conditions were included, and a uniform study selection procedure was followed throughout the review. This review paper brings together existing knowledge about how NTFPs are integrated into agroforestry systems, looking at their ecological and socio-economic advantages, livelihoods benefits, potential challenges, and what the future might hold. The study emphasizes how agroforestry boosts the productivity and sustainability of NTFPs while easing the strain on natural forests.
