Empowering Next-Generation Health Professionals with Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight Skills

It is crucial to equip our next-generation healthcare professionals with futures thinking and strategic foresight skills as they confront the demands and challenges of the volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous, diverse, and disruptive (VUCAD2) world. In this paper, I contend that such skills must be embedded in health education curricula, part of the qualification standards in hiring healthcare professionals, and be integrated in health licensure requirements. The crucial role of health workers in the future in addressing the complex challenges and opportunities in public healthcare cannot be overstated. Prioritizing these indispensable skills in health education is imperative for positively influencing the healthcare system.
