<p>As part of the amendment of the State Nonsmoker Protection Act Baden-Württemberg (LNRSchG BW), a&#xa0;citizens’ forum has for the first time contributed to the legislative process in the spirit of a dialogical citizen involvement. This approach serves to integrate the needs and experiential knowledge of the population into the consideration of political issues. The process and the results are presented in this article. The citizens’ forum recommended a&#xa0;clear expansion of non-smoker protection in Baden-Württemberg, going beyond the regulations intended in the draft law. The state parliament (<i>Landtag</i>) in Baden-Württemberg passed the law on 4 February 2026. It comes into force on 1 June 2026.</p>
