摘要

Aim

Dementia is an increasing public health challenge, with nearly 10 million new cases reported each year. Memory clinics are specialized services that provide multidisciplinary assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. This study synthesizes the available evidence on the structure and care models of memory clinics internationally within dementia healthcare.

Subject and methods

A systematic review was conducted for memory clinics internationally within dementia healthcare in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines, based on searches of scientific databases. After screening and eligibility assessment, 26 articles were included for analysis.

Results

The evidence reveals a shift toward integrated approaches, a variety of operational models, and an increasing trend to incorporate memory-clinic functions into primary care. Initiatives for standardization and accreditation programs across different national contexts were also identified. A country-by-country comparative analysis is presented.

Conclusion

The main current challenges for implementing and sustaining memory clinics include developing basic infrastructure, ensuring equitable geographic access, standardizing quality, integrating care models, and preparing for future technological and therapeutic advances.
