Background <p>In recent years, evolving research has revealed a complex relationship between sociodemographic factors and asthma, investigating academic and socioeconomic factors to strengthen the focus on this area of research. The aim of this study is to undertake a broad bibliometric analysis of the research literature from 2003 to 2024 pertaining to asthma-related socioeconomic factors, to systematically reflect the current scenario and emerging trends within the field.</p> Method <p>Literature data from Scopus on socioeconomic status and asthma among children were collected using search terms including “Socioeconomic status” OR “Factors” AND “Asthma” OR “Asthmatic Symptoms” AND “Children” OR “Child.” VOSviewer and Scopus analyzer were used to visually analyze the bibliometric indicators such as coauthor, publication, and coupling of data to facilitate the identification of research patterns and trends.</p> Results <p>A total of 1911 papers published within the last 20&#xa0;years were included in the analysis. The United States accounted for 930 of these articles and a substantial number of citations. Visualization tools such as VOSviewer were used to elucidate collaborative networks among researchers and institutions, revealing concentrated effects in North America and Europe while also highlighting a notable lack of contributions from regions such as Africa and Australia. Keyword analysis identified a multifaceted approach to asthma research that encompasses biological, environmental, and socioeconomic factors.</p> Conclusion <p>The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions in low- and middle-income countries and the importance of addressing socioeconomic disparities in asthma prevalence, thereby providing a comprehensive overview that can inform future research agendas and health policy formulations.</p>

Background
