Aim <p>Climate change is a global concern, with long-term adverse effects in multiple domains of the human ecosystem. However, the harmful impact disproportionately affects women and youth, as compared to men. Assessing its impact on these groups is challenging due to limited data, complex intersectionality, varying vulnerabilities and adaptive capacities, long-term effects, and institutional barriers. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the impact of climate change on women and youth across diverse settings using a systematic review of the literature, addressing the critical threat to human society and ecosystems.</p> Subject and methods <p>A literature search was systematically conducted in the Scopus and PubMed databases using a specific search strategy combining the keywords “climate change,” “youth,” and “woman” using Boolean operators. This review included primary studies with open access published in the English language within the last 10 years (2014–2024). These studies utilized primary data collection methods such as interviews and surveys.</p> Results <p>Climate change shifts women’s roles, increasing responsibilities in agriculture and household management. It causes health impacts, including mental health issues, higher HIV prevalence, and food insecurity, particularly affecting uneducated, economically weaker, and pregnant women. Adaptation strategies like cultural beliefs, agroforestry, and climate-smart agriculture influence the decision-making and adaptability of women and youth. Enhancing adaptive capacities through education and awareness initiatives is crucial for empowering these vulnerable groups and improving their resilience to the impacts of climate change.</p> Conclusion <p>Climate change is already impacting all spheres of life, and its effect on women and youth is raising concerns regarding this already vulnerable segment of the population. The research and design of more integrated models in every domain of social, health, cultural, and economic investment is needed to effectively address the probable disproportionate effect of climatic changes on women and the youth population.</p> Clinical trial number <p>Not applicable.</p>
