<p>A&#xa0;few years after the print of the first plague instruction in the Habsburg countries (1521) and certainly independent thereof two pharmacists in Linz an der Donau, Upper Austria, in their manuscript on 32&#xa0;pages reported about various illnesses and especially about measures for the prevention of plague in the individuals. They recommended the intake of special electuaria and preparations of different plants and their root-stocks. If the first signs of the illness already have appeared venesections are recommended on certain spots of the body. In different parts of the manuscript the indication of the tolerated time between the onset of the sign and the intervention varies between two and 24 h.</p><p>The manuscript obviously, in contrast to official plague instructions, was not intended to give guidance for official measures in favour of the public health, but to give guidance to individuals, physicians and treaters.</p>

A few years after the print of the first plague instruction in the Habsburg countries (1521) and certainly independent thereof two pharmacists in Linz an der Donau, Upper Austria, in their manuscript on 32 pages reported about various illnesses and especially about measures for the prevention of plague in the individuals.
