摘要

This study highlights the major landslides from 25th May to 20th June 2024 in the East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, India. It provides a preliminary assessment of the landslide locations, descriptions, and their impacts on society and the environment. During this period, eight significant landslides caused extensive damage and disruption. The landslides completely destroyed two houses, caused retaining walls to collapse, damaged vehicles, and road cutting and damaged side drains. Tragically, these events led to the deaths of four people and many injured who were hospitalized. The landslides also caused soil erosion and severely threatened an 8-storey building. This study emphasizes the need for effective landslide prevention strategies to protect the affected communities and infrastructure.
