This pathogen is known to cause diseases such as charcoal rot in crops and other plants, leading to wilting, stem rot, and ultimately plant death. This review provides an overview of the current knowledge of <i>M.&#xa0;phaseolina</i>, including its host range, disease symptoms, and pathogenicity factors on plants. Based on literature reviews, the findings confirm that <i>M.&#xa0;phaseolina</i> can infect different plant species around the world, spanning all six continents where crop production occurs, except Antarctica, where there is no cultivation. Among all hosts, annual crops, including legumes and cereals, are more susceptible than woody plants. The fungus has been reported in diverse geographical regions worldwide, with significant occurrences in areas known for their warm and dry climates. This comprehensive overview enhances our understanding of <i>M.&#xa0;phaseolina</i>’s global distribution and host preferences, providing essential insights for researchers, plant pathologists, and policymakers. Improved knowledge of its biology and pathogenicity is crucial for developing effective strategies to manage its spread and mitigate crop losses.</p>
