Identification of Yield Limiting Nutrients Through the Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) for Fruit Crops

Perennial fruit crops have distinct nutritional needs compared to seasonal crops due to their larger size, denser planting, extensive root systems, growth patterns, and differing yield dynamics during both bearing and non-bearing seasons. Effective nutrient management in fruit orchards aims to enhance profitability through optimized fertilization strategies. This requires an accurate assessment of the nutrient limitations affecting yield potential. Different fruit crops require specific nutrient profiles for optimal growth. The diagnosis and recommendation integrated system (DRIS) can be adapted to various fruit species, making it a versatile tool for different agricultural systems. Nutrient ratios identified through DRIS correlate with crop yield, allowing growers to anticipate potential yield reductions due to nutrient deficiencies or imbalances. DRIS can be integrated with other diagnostic tools, such as soil testing and visual symptom analysis, to provide a comprehensive nutrient management plan. The study found that both deficiencies and excesses of nutrients could limit fruit crop yields. DRIS helps to balance the nutrient profile, preventing such imbalances. It is influenced by regional soil types, climate, and other environmental factors, which means the recommendations must be adapted to local conditions for the best results. Numerous field trials have demonstrated the successful application of DRIS in improving fruit crop yields by correcting nutrient imbalances.
