<p>Fruit tree trunk diseases comprise a&#xa0;diverse group of fungal pathogens that infect the vascular tissues and bark of fruit trees, presenting a&#xa0;major challenge to orchard management worldwide. The objective of this study was to explore the diversity and distribution of trunk diseases affecting various crops across the main production regions of fruit trees in Morocco. Symptomatic trunk samples were collected from affected trees. The causative agents were identified through morphological characterization and molecular phylogenetic analysis, utilizing the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and the β‑tubulin (tub2) gene. Results revealed a&#xa0;diverse array of fungal species associated with trunk diseases, including species within the genera <i>Neoscytalidium, Lasiodiplodia, Botryosphaeria, Diplodia, Neofusicoccum, Diaporthe, Cytospora, Curvularia, Fusarium, Sordaria</i> and <i>Biscogniauxia</i>. Certain pathogens were found to be predominant across different fruit tree species and geographical regions, indicating their widespread distribution and potential impact on orchard health. Pathogenicity testing confirmed the ability of all isolates to induce characteristic lesions on inoculated shoots, highlighting their role as primary causative agents. <i>Lasiodiplodia</i> <i>theobromae, Neoscytalidium dimidiatum</i> and <i>Diplodia insularis</i> produced the highest number of lesions in all inoculated crops. This comprehensive study represents the first in-depth report on species associated with apple, peach, cherry, plum, almond and persimmon trees in Morocco, revealing new species records on a&#xa0;global scale and providing valuable insights for developing effective control strategies.</p>
