摘要

Endometriosis is a disease with a highly complex pathology. Characteristic features are infertility, chronic pain and a 2–4-fold increased risk of ovarian cancer. The molecular pathology now recognizes somatic gene alterations that can potentially lead to endometriosis and also to a malignant transformation. Genomic alterations are suspected but currently are still speculative.
