摘要

In clinical practice, serum concentration of anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and number of antral follicles (antral follicle count, AFC) are usually used to assess ovarian reserve. There is currently no uniform, internationally recognized definition of diminished ovarian reserve. Similarly, there is no standardized categorisation of patients with diminished ovarian reserve, which makes it difficult to compare study results and evaluate different therapeutic approaches. As a result, it has not yet been possible to establish universally applicable treatment strategies and in vitro fertilisation (IVF) protocols for patients with diminished ovarian reserve. However, there is no doubt that ovarian stimulation with high doses of gonadotropin does not provide any additional benefit in cases of low ovarian reserve. For this reason, alternative IVF strategies, such as natural IVF or IVF with minimal stimulation, are increasingly becoming the focus of clinical and scientific consideration.
