S2k-Leitlinie zur nichthormonellen Kontrazeption – Barrieremethoden in der gynäkologischen Praxis
摘要
Currently, barrier methods are more frequently used than hormonal contraceptives in Germany. The S2k guideline “Non-hormonal Contraception” published in 2024 by the German society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gynäkologie und Geburtshilfe, DGGG) recommends considering barrier methods in all settings of contraceptive counseling. These methods are used when needed and have a broad medical eligibility. While they represent high contraceptive effectivity when used correctly, their effectiveness in routine use is low due to application errors and inconsistent use. Gynecologists themselves rarely use barrier methods. Therefore, it is likely that barrier methods are not adequately considered during counseling in gynecological practices. However, contraceptive counseling should be unbiased and open. The aim of counseling is to enable adolescents or women to make an individual, informed decision about a method that they will be able to use safely and reliably.
