Lepidotrigla smithii Regan 1905, a senior synonym of Lepidotrigla kishinouyi Snyder 1911 (Actinopterygii: Teleostei: Triglidae)
摘要
Lepidotrigla smithii Regan 1905, previously synonymized with both Lepidotrigla kishinouyi Snyder 1911 or Lepidotrigla microptera Günther 1873 due to insufficient comparative analysis, is herein redescribed as a valid species. Examination of type specimens and comparative materials revealed that L. smithii and L. kishinouyi are conspecific, establishing L. smithii as the senior synonym. The redescribed species is distinguished from congeners by: outermost rostral spine long, inner spines short; first dorsal-fin spine serrate; pectoral-fin tip usually not reaching middle of the dorsal- or anal-fin base; pectoral-fin length, 27.9–36.4% standard length (SL); first free ray length, 22.6–29.0% SL; second free ray length, 19.7–25.8% SL; first free ray tip far from reaching pelvic-fin tip; breast naked; body scales attached firmly; small pale spots within dark blotch on inner pectoral-fin surface; 14–16 second dorsal-fin rays; 14–16 anal-fin rays; 58–62 lateral line scales; 4–6 scales above lateral line; 30–32 total vertebrae; and 6–9 gill rakers.
