A two-phased model for optimal evaluation of design accessibility index using fuzzy approach
摘要
An accessible website has become a key driver in the digital era for different kinds of users. However, universal access to websites by all people is challenging for web designers and developers. The major concern is the accessibility evaluation of websites as per the diverse needs of users, as well as legal standards and guidelines. Significant work has strived for accessibility evaluation by embracing various methodologies. The work presented in the current paper aims at proposing a Two-Phased Model for the Evaluation of the Design Accessibility Index. The top ten highest ranked Indian incubation websites have been evaluated by using a combined methodology of automated and expert testing. The first phase of the proposed model is used to compute the value of the Absolute Design Accessibility Evaluation Index (ADAEI) by proposing two new metrics named Error-Free Accessibility Index (EFAI) and Erroneous Accessibility Index (ENAI). To execute the second phase of the model, two new metrics named Lower Design Accessibility Index (LDAI) and Upper Design Accessibility Index (UDAI) have been proposed to determine the value of Relative Design Accessibility Evaluation Index (RDAEI). The second phase is responsible for the comparative analysis of websites based on their ranking. As per the result findings, three websites achieved ‘Good’, five achieved ‘Very Bad’, one achieved ‘Bad’, and one achieved an ‘Excellent’ level of accessibility among the ten websites. The proposed model may help to find the level of website accessibility by evaluating the rank of a website in a particular domain. Additionally, the proposed model has been validated by considering another case with the same Dataset, having no significant difference at
