<p>In recent years, significant advancements have been achieved in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the education sector. However, a substantial gap remains between the tangible outcomes of AI-driven education and the goals of high-quality educational development. This study systematically reviews existing literature to evaluate the potential impact of AI on education systems through three aspects: applications, advantages, and challenges. The analysis focuses on five major application areas, which include intelligent educational environments, intelligent learning process support, intelligent tutoring systems, intelligent educational assessment, and intelligent educational management services. These areas are examined to understand how AI technologies shape modern educational systems. Additionally, the study identifies current limitations in AI-driven educational applications and suggests future development directions related to theoretical foundations, practical strategies, and governance mechanisms. The findings aim to offer a valuable reference for both educational researchers and practitioners.</p>
