摘要

This paper explores the accessibility knowledge among people involved in the evaluation of software products and services and how the compliance with accessibility guidelines are assessed in practice. We adopted a survey methodology to gather information from professionals that play the role of testers (or similar roles) or that have to conduct the evaluation of products or services at any point of the development lifecycle. Most participants have limited knowledge of accessibility and accessibility standards and guidelines. In addition, we found out that participants overly rely on manual testing as a primary technique of evaluating the accessibility of digital products and many of them fail to test for basic accessibility requirements. It is essential to invest in education and training programs that not only cover the theoretical aspects of accessibility standards but also offer practical experience with tools and best practices, which could significantly improve both the efficiency and accuracy of testing processes. In addition, the development of standardized test scenarios is crucial to ensure a wide range of accessibility scenarios are tested consistently.
