摘要

The risk of dangerous encounters with brown bears can be reduced by clarifying the activity patterns of brown bears and relationship between brown bears and human activities. In this study, we aimed to determine the activity patterns of brown bears and humans by conducting a camera trap survey in Nishiokoppe village, Hokkaido, during 2014–2023. Our results showed that brown bears had a core activity range during the night, with a low overlap with the activity pattern of humans. Consequently, although this study is a descriptive comparison with other previous studies, brown bears may exhibit nocturnal activity to directly avoid human activity, indicating behavioral plasticity in response to human activity and their levels.
