摘要

Consumption rate of multilayer plastic packaging (MLPP) is high, but unfortunately, after-used products are difficult to recycle. This condition causes MLPP waste as an environmental burden. This study hence aims to assess the sustainability of MLPP in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector in Indonesia. The analysis utilized a multidimensional scaling (MDS) method and the calculation was aided by Rapfish Excel-based software. The procedure was based on primary data from expert respondents through questionnaires, which were then supported by secondary data from the literature. The scrutinized dimensions comprised ecological, social, economic, technological, and institutional. The results showed that the MLPP sustainability index is categorized as sufficiently sustainable with the value of 66.25. For each dimension, the sequential value consists of 83.97 for ecological dimension, 61.21 for social dimension, 57.34 for economic dimension, 50.33 for technological dimension, and 78.39 for institutional dimension. Moreover, all the index values are accurate since their stress values lie in 0.14–0.16 and the coefficient of determination (R2) is ranging from 0.94 to 0.95. Due to the technological dimension has the lowest value, improvement activities can be realized by rectifying the technology or production methods.
