<p>This study investigates the spatio-temporal dynamics of land use change in Beni city, Democratic Republic of Congo, over three decades (1993–2023). By integrating remote sensing data and GIS analysis, we quantify trends in forest, fallow, perennial crop, and settlement areas. An impressive annual increase of 5.3% in forest cover underscores the impact of conservation and reforestation initiatives, while aged fallow and perennial croplands grew by 2.2% per year, reflecting enhanced soil fertility and natural regeneration. Settlement area-bare soil declined at an average of 4.8% annually over the full period, though they rose by 4.4% per year from 2013 to 2023. These findings highlight the critical role of sustainable land management and conflict-aware planning in promoting environmental resilience at regional and global scales.</p>
