摘要

The rise in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions contributing to global warming has prompted a significant shift in the automobile industry toward electric vehicles (EVs). However, the sustenance of EVs in the market faces a challenge due to their economic feasibility. Notably, new batteries constitute nearly half of the total production cost of an EV, a burden that could be alleviated through the integration of efficient battery recycling processes. This analysis aims to find the battery composition selection for EVs and the benefits of the recycling process. The recovery rate for these battery compositions is considered to compare the benefits of battery recycling based on energy production, emissions reduction, and water consumption. The comparative analysis results indicate that recycling an LFP battery significantly reduces energy requirements by 66.6%, lowers emissions by 24.8%, and achieves remarkable water savings of 95.6%. Additionally, recycling can decrease the production costs of recycled LFP batteries by 55%. The analysis highlights that implementing recycling could significantly reduce overall production costs, making EVs more affordable and environmentally sustainable.
