<p>There are differing views among clinical healthcare providers regarding the necessity and scope of laboratory diagnostics in emergency situations. These divergent opinions stem from the different perspectives on care in outpatient practices versus emergency departments. Based on the decision of the Federal Social Court dated 13&#xa0;May&#xa0;2020, the development of the “case and diagnosis group” for the key symptom ‘altered mental status’ is carried out in accordance with evidence-based medicine, incorporating justified and scientifically substantiated laboratory diagnostics.</p>

There are differing views among clinical healthcare providers regarding the necessity and scope of laboratory diagnostics in emergency situations. Based on the decision of the Federal Social Court dated 13 May 2020, the development of the “case and diagnosis group” for the key symptom ‘altered mental status’ is carried out in accordance with evidence-based medicine, incorporating justified and scientifically substantiated laboratory diagnostics.
