<p>In mass casualty incidents (MCI), a&#xa0;sudden emergency event leads to a&#xa0;significantly increased number of patients and/or affected individuals. A&#xa0;key characteristic of such situations—especially in the initial phase—is the disproportion between the number of casualties and the available resources, including qualified personnel and necessary medical equipment at the scene. A&#xa0;structured and well-coordinated approach is essential to establish order at the incident site as early as possible and to gain an overall situational overview. In this context, the ERFOLG framework serves as a&#xa0;valuable tool, particularly for the hospital and emergency medical services medical incident commanders.</p>

In mass casualty incidents (MCI), a sudden emergency event leads to a significantly increased number of patients and/or affected individuals. A key characteristic of such situations—especially in the initial phase—is the disproportion between the number of casualties and the available resources, including qualified personnel and necessary medical equipment at the scene.
