<p>Sepsis is among the most frequent time-critical conditions worldwide, accounting for approximately 20% of all deaths. Rapid identification of the infection focus is crucial for reducing mortality through targeted antibiotic therapy and interventional focus control. However, this process often poses a&#xa0;significant challenge, particularly in patients presenting with nonspecific symptoms, as is common in immunosuppressed, elderly, or disoriented individuals. Bedside ultrasonography represents a&#xa0;low-risk, cost-effective, and easily integrable diagnostic tool that facilitates the prompt identification of common and interventionally manageable infection foci. The LUCAAS Sepsis Sonography Protocol, derived from the established LUCCAASS mnemonic (lung, urine, central nervous system, cardiac, abdomen, arthritis, skin, spine), provides a&#xa0;standardized yet adaptable framework for focus identification, analogous to the Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (FAST) protocol used in polytrauma patients. It encompasses systematic ultrasound examinations of the lungs (lung), urinary tract (urine), heart (cardiac), abdomen (abdomen), joints (arthritis), and soft tissue infections (skin). The method is helpful for identification, but not for the reliable exclusion of all sources of infection. Comprehensive training is essential to ensure the qualified application of this method and to enhance diagnostic accuracy in the management of patients with sepsis.</p>
