While acute poisonings in general are common emergencies, poisonings with some specific toxins are extremely rare; thus, there is little clinical experience with their identification and management. Lacking experience in toxin identification and management may, however, lead to delayed treatment and increased mortality. Toxidromes can help to identify the substance, the right diagnostic pathway, and the correct therapeutic intervention. The “toxidromes sun” structures and visualizes leading symptoms and diagnostic results so that one can intuitively identify the corresponding substance group and initiate specific treatment. The toxidromes sun serves as a valuable tool for a structured approach to poisoned patients and is particularly suitable for use in the resuscitation room management of critically ill patients.
