Überlegungen und Herausforderungen zur zukünftigen Versorgung kritisch kranker Kinder im nichttraumatologischen Schockraum

Recommendations on infrastructural and organizational requirements, staffing and criteria for a resuscitation room alerting system for critically ill adult non-trauma patients were presented in the White Paper of the German Society for Acute and Emergency Medicine (DGINA). Up until today, there has been hardly any data available in Germany on the care of critically ill, non-trauma pediatric patients treated in the resuscitation room. Decision tools are already available for the detection of critically ill children. To date, care has presumably been provided very differently, partly in pediatric emergency departments, partly directly in pediatric intensive care units, but also in (adult) emergency departments. In addition, critically ill children are often presented by their parents in emergency departments without an associated pediatric department. As with adult patients and severely trauma-injured children, it also seems sensible to use the “resuscitation room” as a resource for non-trauma children of all age groups, as the equipment and materials, personnel resources, short distances for the emergency services and radiological diagnostics are available here, and there is experience of both trauma and non-trauma resuscitation room care. With this background, studies on the care situation of critically ill, non-trauma pediatric resuscitation room patients in Germany are necessary, for example using registry data, in order to develop a care recommendation for critically ill, non-trauma pediatric patients within the existing structures. All specialists involved in pediatric emergency care should participate in the development of these guidelines.
