摘要

Introduction

Sustainability, although more relevant than ever, receives little attention in the emergency services. However, utilizing the recycling potential of used materials could not only reduce costs, but also promote sustainability and environmental protection. This study investigated the recycling potential of packaging materials in the emergency services.

Materials and methods

The packaging material (waste) of all emergency vehicles used in a large city was measured over a 24-hour period.

Results

Around 70% of the packaging materials used are recyclable.

Conclusion

Simple measures such as waste separation could exploit the recycling potential in terms of sustainable practices.
