Eine Familie mit Malaria tropica

In our emergency department, a 42-year-old patient presented with high fever, vomitting, and diarrhea. The level of consciousness was significantly impaired. The presentation occured in the 30th week of pregnancy. The patient had previously visited relatives on the Ivory Coast. We confirmed a diagnosis of malaria tropica in our facility. Other family members also had malaria tropica. We provide an overview of the criteria for complicated malaria tropica and describe the therapeutic approach, with a particular focus on the treatment of pregnant patients with a malaria infection.
