<p>This paper explores the complex relationship between tourism dynamics and environmental pollution, specifically CO2 emissions, across 17&#xa0;Latin American (LATAM) countries and 34&#xa0;OECD countries. Existing literature presents mixed findings regarding the impact of tourism on pollution, influenced by factors such as varying stages of economic development, energy consumption patterns, and environmental policies. To address these inconsistencies, the study employs the convergence testing method proposed by Phillips and Sul (<CitationRef CitationID="CR23">2007</CitationRef>, <CitationRef CitationID="CR24">2009</CitationRef>) to identify groups of countries with similar CO2 emission trends. The analysis identifies two distinct convergence clubs: one comprising industrialized OECD countries with high carbon footprints and advanced sustainable tourism practices, and another that includes both LATAM and OECD countries with lower emissions but diverse reliance on primary sectors. While the first group demonstrates ongoing efforts to reduce emissions, the second group, particularly in LATAM, faces challenges linked to economic constraints and heightened vulnerability to climate change. Cluster analysis further supports these findings, emphasizing the need for context-specific policies to manage CO2 emissions as tourism grows in different regions.</p>
