摘要

In this work, three types of amino acids with different functional groups were selected, that is, l-methionine (Met), l-arginine (Arg), and l-aspartic acid (Asp). The synergistic inhibition effect of amino acids and potassium iodide (KI) on carbon steel in 0.5 M HCl was evaluated by electrochemical tests, surface analyses, and theoretical calculation. The results indicate that amino acids and KI exhibit a synergistic inhibition effect, which significantly improves the corrosion inhibition efficiencies of the inhibitors, especially at high temperature. Moreover, the synergistic inhibition mechanism and the relationship between the structure of amino acids and the synergistic inhibition effect are in-depth elucidated by surface analyses and theoretical calculations.
