摘要

Background

Acute limb ischemia is a medical emergency that occurs as a result of sudden occlusion of a peripheral artery and, if left untreated, can lead to tissue loss, permanent disability or even loss of the affected limb. In recent decades, minimally invasive methods have increasingly become established in the treatment of acute embolic and thrombotic occlusions.

Aim of the study

This article describes the experiences with the treatment of acute limb ischemia using the BYCROSS atherectomy system (Taryag, Israel), which is approved for use as both an atherectomy and thrombectomy device.

Material and methods

The explanations given refer to personal experiences with the BYCROSS® atherectomy system in clinical use.

Results

The application is illustrated using a case report.

Conclusions

The BYCROSS® atherectomy system is a device with a wide range of indications. The advantages of the system underline its diverse application possibilities and potential for integration into daily routine operations.

Based on our own experiences the system can be effectively used in cases of acute limb ischemia. As no data on its use in acute limb ischemia are currently available, this should be the subject of future studies.
