The use of so-called single-use negative pressure wound therapy (sNPWT) systems for prophylaxis of postoperative wound complications has become increasingly established in recent years. Several systematic reviews and meta-analyses demonstrate a significant advantage over standard wound care with respect to the reduction of postoperative wound complications (surgical site complications, SSC) and wound infections ( surgical site infections, SSI), especially in high-risk patients.
