摘要

Despite all established measures to prevent them, postoperative surgical site complications and infections occur in up to 30% of all operations and according to the WHO represent a relevant clinical and economic challenge [31]. The frequency of occurrence greatly varies between the surgical disciplines and the type of surgery and vascular surgery is one of the disciplines with an above-average high incidence [10].

The use of so-called single-use negative pressure wound therapy (sNPWT) systems for prophylaxis of postoperative wound complications has become increasingly established in recent years. Several systematic reviews and meta-analyses demonstrate a significant advantage over standard wound care with respect to the reduction of postoperative wound complications (surgical site complications, SSC) and wound infections ( surgical site infections, SSI), especially in high-risk patients.
