Due to the high cure rates in the treatment of Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), the perspective of patients has gained particular importance. First and foremost—and thus as a fundamental prerequisite for improving the care of our patients—is comprehensive information about the disease and all associated topics “beyond” it. Only in this way can patients and former patients be empowered, develop health literacy, and actively participate in the course of cancer therapy and the follow-up phase. Improving care also requires active patient involvement in the form of patient representation, which should be included early in the planning of scientific studies and other research projects. Optimal care for patients with HL can only be achieved if the perspectives of former patients are incorporated into study designs from the outset. A key moment for improving care is the transition from therapy to the follow-up phase. All parties involved should strive to facilitate this transition by offering structured, interdisciplinary care during the follow-up phase.
