Immuntherapie gastrointestinaler Tumoren

Gastrointestinal tumors represent a very heterogeneous group in terms of their immunogenicity, ranging from highly immunogenic microsatellite unstable tumors to less immunogenic pancreatic tumors. In recent years, immunotherapeutic agents have been approved for almost all gastrointestinal tumors, either as immunotherapy alone or as combined chemoimmunotherapy. Although this has not achieved the same therapeutic success as for the classic highly immunogenic tumors, these new immuno-oncological therapies have led to a lasting transformation in cancer treatment, primarily due to better tolerability and, in some cases, long-lasting remissions. Although all approvals to date have mainly been for palliative therapy, further approvals for neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy approaches as well as for the locoregional therapy of liver tumors are expected in the near future. The range of immunotherapeutic agents will also expand significantly due to promising results of current studies.
